The Boylesports Irish Grand National will be the most valuable jumps race in Ireland for the 2014-15 National Hunt season following of a €25,000 increase in prize money and an extension of the sponsorship to 2016.

The renewal of the €275,000 steeplechase will take place at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday next, 6 April.

Peter Roe, General Manager at Fairyhouse, said: "The extension of our partnership with Boylesports will continue to drive the popularity of the Easter Festival, which has grown so much in recent years.

"We are proud to host what is now the most valuable jumps race in Ireland. Fairyhouse is the home to so many historic races and legendary winners and we very much look forward to hosting the 2015 Boylesports Irish Grand National.”

Commenting on the sponsorship deal, John Boyle, Chief Executive at Boylesports said: “We are delighted to extend our Irish Grand National sponsorship at Fairyhouse for the next two years and to be associated with Ireland’s most valuable jumps race.”

The 2014 renewal saw local jockey Barry Geraghty, who is Ambassador for the Boylesports Irish Grand National, finally succeed in adding the race to his long list of honours, when he succeeded on the JP McManus-owned and Jonjo O’Neill-trained Shutthefrontdoor.

The crowd that day was 16,253 – up almost 8% on the previous year.
