Brown Panther annihilated his opponents in the Palmerstown House Irish St Leger under a brilliantly-judged ride from Richard Kingscote.
A winner at Chester and Sandown earlier in the year before excellent efforts in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, in France and most recently the Goodwood Cup, Tom Dascombe's pride and joy was sent off at 14-1 for his latest staying assignment.
Ballydoyle pacemaker Eye Of The Storm went straight to the lead and while the rest of the field were happy to give him plenty of rope, Kingscote was keen to keep him close and sat a clear second from the off.
The pacesetting pair were still a long way clear rounding the home turn, but while Eye Of The Storm faded, Brown Panther continued to power home.
The chasing pack were unable to make significant inroads and Brown Panther, part-owned by former footballer Michael Owen, came home six and a half lengths ahead of the odds-on Leading Light to give Dascombe and Kingscote their first taste of Group One glory.
Dascombe said: "Well, the first thing to say is he gave him a brilliant ride.
"It's just worked out today. We have been having a real lean time. We didn't manage to have a winner last week and I was close to pulling him out, but there aren't too many Irish St Legers so you have to run. The horse never lets us down.
"He won't go to Australia (for the Melbourne Cup). He'll go for the Champions race at Ascot (Long Distance Cup) if he's all right in the morning.
"That was very special. He's the apple of my eye, as everyone knows, and he was pretty spectacular out there today" - Michael Owen
"We are thinking about giving him a few races in Dubai. He'll probably run for one more season.
"It's my first Group One winner and couldn't have come at a better time."
Owen said: "That was very special. He's the apple of my eye, as everyone knows, and he was pretty spectacular out there today.
"Richard was a bit closer to the pace than we envisaged, but he's a relentless galloper and he quickened again.
"He kept galloping and he's a superstar."
