Charles Byrnes will decide after working Solwhit on Saturday whether to let his stable star take his chance in the Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Sunday week.

Winner of the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March before following up at Aintree a month later, the eight-times Grade One winner is nearing a return to competitive action.

A Christmas outing at Leopardstown has been pencilled in for the nine-year-old for some time, but Byrnes has yet to decide whether to first let him line up over two and a half miles in Fairyhouse's Grade One feature.

Byrnes said: "I think he'll do a piece of work on Saturday and we'll make a decision on whether he goes to Fairyhouse after that.

"I am happy enough with him at the moment and he's progressing nicely, but we'll just see how he goes this weekend.

"If I think he needs more time I'll take him out of the race and if I leave him in on Tuesday he'll probably take his chance.

"The three-mile race at Leopardstown at Christmas is his first big aim.

"We just need to decide whether we'll get a run in at Fairyhouse beforehand or whether it will come too soon."
