Great Voltigeur entry Camelot likely to skip York race

Triple Crown aspirant Camelot is likely to have a racecourse gallop before heading to Doncaster for the Ladbrokes St Leger next month.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt remains among 30 entries for the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on 22 August following the latest forfeit stage.

But his next assignment is likely to be on Town Moor, where he will bid to become the first horse since Nijinsky in 1970 to win the 2000 Guineas, Derby and Leger.

O'Brien told At The Races: "He's had a nice break. He's just getting ready to canter away again. He'll probably have a racecourse gallop around that time (Voltigeur) and hopefully if everything is well then we'll look at Doncaster, that's the plan.

"There's a lot of time between now and then but everything is good so far."

Derby runner-up Main Sequence could attempt to gain compensation for a troubled run in France, while Frankel's brother Noble Mission could aim to build on his victory in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday.

John Gosden has Leger candidates Michelangelo, Thought Worthy and Shantaram in the mix.
