Custom Cut, Vastonea and Pintura best bets for Galway's Topaz Mile EBF Handicap

The Galway Festival continues on Tuesday with the valuable Topaz Mile EBF Handicap the pick of the action on another competitive card.

This looks a red hot renewal with any number holding claims, not least Custom Cut who comes into this in tremendous form having completed a four-timer with a comfortable success at the Curragh.

The going at Ballybrit promises to be markedly quicker, however, so Vastonea and English raider Pintura are just two of many likely to provide stiff opposition.

Racing begins at 4pm with the Topaz Novice Hurdle and the Ruby Walsh-ridden Zuzka could prove a tough nut to crack having opened her account over hurdles at Sligo earlier this month.

Walsh looks to have solid claims again in the subsequent Latin Quarter Chase, this time aboard Devil's Elbow who is up 10lb for his recent Limerick win but that was a stylish display.

The 2m Topaz Handicap sees a number of runners who are unexposed over this extreme test of stamina and the three-year-old Voleuse De Coeurs certainly fits into that category having only raced as far as 1m4f in her six race career to date, theough Dermot Weld may have done well to get her in off a mark of 79.

Knockcroghery comes into this in good form and will be expected to make her presence felt again while Star Power finds himself on a handy mark returned to this trip.

On Paper, the Caulfieldindustrial.com EBF Fillies Maiden looks more straightforward with Magical Dream sure to be strongly fancied on the back of her highly promising third third place in Naas, although Weld's Big Break is the potential fly in the ointment making her racecourse debut.

The action comes to a close with the Caulfieldindustrial.com EBF Maiden and Weld is represented once again, this time with Storm Lightning, although the likes of Mona Brown and Hail hold slightly stronger form claims.
