Sure Reef booked his place at the Galway Festival with a comprehensive victory at Killarney on Tuesday evening.
The three-year-old colt took within his stride the step up to a mile and three furlongs with a length-and-a-quarter defeat of South South West in a tight handicap.
Trainer Mick Halford said: "Being by Choisir you wouldn't expect him to stay, but he must get his stamina from the dam (Cutting Reef) who won a one-mile-six-furlong Listed race.
"He does nothing in a hurry and a step up in trip certainly suited.
"He'd have to go to Galway and he'll come up the hill.
"He's genuine and takes his racing well."
