Preview for Friday's meeting at Kilbeggan

A seven-race card at Kilbeggan gets under way at 5.20pm on Friday with the Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle, which sees Cause Of Causes bid to end a couple of second-placed finishes.

Gordon Elliott's gelding was bang in contention when falling on his hurdling debut, and has since put in two solid efforts.

This extra furlong should suit, but he's likely to have to work for this, with Tramore second White Feathers and the former Khalid Abdullah-owned Dream Achieved in the line-up.

Sin Palo's season got worse as he went along last winter, but if he returns to the form of his Punchestown second, he could be a tough nut to crack in the Follow Kilbeggan On Facebook Maiden Hurdle.

Willie Mullins' charge has plenty of willing opponents however, so it would be no surprise to see the likes of E Mac and Howya Buddy in the mix where it matters.

What An Flyer came from out of the clouds to score at Cork last month and bids to follow up in the Moate Handicap Hurdle.

This drop in trip may not be ideal for her though, unlike Benefitthewest, who struck when last tried over this course and distance last year but who has a lengthy absence to overcome.

The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase is the richest race on the card and sees course specialist Annie Other try the chase track for the first time.

With two wins and a second from three starts over hurdles at the Westmeath circuit, she is sure to have her supporters, though Dessie Hughes' Definite Class and Grade 3-placed Banjaxed Girl are classy enough to challenge.

Doctor Woodfield and Good Luck Chuck bid to follow up recent successes in the Sean Hughes Memorial Mullingar Park Hotel Handicap Chase, while the Greville Arms Hotel Handicap Chase could be between the two penalised runners - Turnonthegas and I Never Knew That.
