Frankel team face anxious wait over injury scare

Henry Cecil's unbeaten colt Frankel is to have a further scan at the end of next week on an injury he sustained when working in Newmarket on Wednesday morning.

He had been pencilled in for a racecourse gallop at Newbury next weekend but plans are now up in the air after he injured his off-fore leg.

Frankel, who has won all his nine starts to date, was due to make his seasonal reappearance in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on 19 May.

"He's had one scan which showed no damage. That is good news but is not definitive," said owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe.

"He will have a scan at the end of next week and that will tell us more."
