Paul Hanagan has retained his champion jockey crown after title rival Silvestre de Sousa failed to notch a vital first winner at Doncaster.
Hanagan headed into the final meeting of the year four winners ahead of De Sousa despite the Brazilian registering a fantastic four-timer on Friday.
While that quartet of winners kept him in the hunt, De Sousa had just four booked rides on Town Moor against Hanagan's seven mounts.
Hanagan failed to score on either of his first two rides, but after De Sousa finished unplaced on True Bond in the Betfred Mobile Nursery, it became impossible for him to claim title honours.
Hanagan sealed the title on the final day of last season after a thrilling contest with Richard Hughes and he was delighted to repeat the feat.
He said: "It's a big relief. It feels like a big weight has been lifted and it's gone right down to the wire again."
Paddy Power make Hanagan and Ryan Moore the 3-1 joint favourites for next year's championship with De Sousa and Kieren Fallon next best at 7-2.
