Overturn is likely to defend his crown in the Scottish Champion Hurdle before reverting to the flat for the Chester Cup.

Donald McCain's freewheeling seven-year-old won the Ayr feature in 2010 and will return to Scotland on April 16 for another go.

But the versatile gelding, who made all the running to take the 2010 Galway Hurdle, is also being geared towards another campaign on the level, and is already under consideration for the Chester Cup in May.

McCain told his blog on www.bangorondeeraces.co.uk: ‘Overturn will probably miss Aintree, and could be returning to Ayr for an attempt to follow up last year's win in the Scottish Champion Hurdle.

‘I am then tempted to have a look at the Chester Cup, a big race that I would love to win.’

Overturn won the Northumberland Plate on the flat last season and was last seen finishing seventh in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
