Davy Russell plans to return for the John Smith's Grand National after suffering a small hairline fracture in his left hand at Thurles on Thursday.
The jockey is likely to be sidelined for around 10 days after the Tom Mullins-trained Academy Rose hit the deck at the second-last of the Holy Cross Maiden Hurdle.
Russell remains confident of a swift comeback, however, and expects to ride the Noel Glynn-trained Becauseicouldntsee at Aintree on 9 April.
His agent, Frostie Kelly, said: ‘It's only a small hairline fracture and he's going to be out for around 10 days.
‘It's not too bad an injury and he'll be targeting Aintree.
‘He was booked to ride Noel's horse (Becauseicouldntsee) on Thursday morning and that's still the plan.’
