Gowran Park preview

A couple of Grade 2 contests feature on a potentially informative Gowran Park card on Saturday and Dunguib bids to make a winning return to action in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle.

A brilliant novice last season, Philip Fenton's imposing eight-year-old hasn't raced since disappointing favourite-backers at Punchestown last April but more of a spring campaign has always been the plan this time around.

He has reportedly had a slight setback in recent weeks, however, and will need to be fully over his troubles if he is to see off Luska Lad and tee up a tilt at the Champion Hurdle.

Gimli's Rock completes the small but select field and was last sighted completing a hat-trick of wins in a Grade 2 event at Down Royal in November.

Last year, the Red Mills Chase was won by subsequent Ryanair Chase third J'y Vole and Roberto Goldback could plot a similar path if all goes well for the Jessie Harrington inmate.

Scotsirish was third in last season's Ryanair but the Grand National might be his target this term.

Fenton looks to have live claims in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Chase with Woodbine Willy.

He drops back a couple of furlongs after fading into fourth at Killarney last May and resumes on a good mark.

Tiernan's Terror, Another Jewel and The Sneezer are all lurking dangerously towards the bottom of the weights.

Tawaagg will be all the rage in the Ronan Lawlor Memorial Beginners Chase following a pleasing introduction to birch at Leopardstown, while Knight Eagle and Luddenmore set the standard in the Shantou At Burgage Stud Maiden Hurdle.

Last-time-out scorers Glam Gerry, Chino Valdes and Career Move clash in the C & F Green Energy Handicap Hurdle but Lascalahall could scupper them all with a repeat of his head second at Down Royal.

Capisci is another obvious newcomer of note in the Rockview INH Flat Race.
