Saeed bin Suroor is keen to stress that whatever happens to Saamidd in Saturday's highly-anticipated Dubai Dewhurst Stakes, he will improve again over the winter.

The unbeaten Street Cry colt was briefly one of the favourites for next year's 2000 Guineas before Frankel and Dream Ahead demolished the opposition in their respective races.

And while the juvenile nicknamed Pegasus on the Godolphin gallops will have plenty of followers in one of the races of the season, his trainer views him as a prospect for next season.

‘Saamidd worked really well yesterday morning,’ said Bin Suroor.

‘He won really well last time at Doncaster and looked in good form yesterday.

‘This time he is going to take on the best two-year-olds in the country in Frankel and Dream Ahead, both of them are very good horses.

‘It will be a very tough race but we are happy to run him.

‘We'll give him a chance. This is a Group One now and we'll see how he runs but we expect him to run well.

‘The horse he beat at Doncaster (Approve) has been running well in all the big races all season, but Frankel and Dream Ahead look very good.

‘What I want to make clear is that we think this horse will make a much better three-year-old. We are really looking forward to next year with him as he is still a little weak.

‘He's improving all the time but next year he will be better.’

William Buick has been on board Dream Ahead for all his three wins, and believes Saturday's race will sort out the pecking order for next year.

‘I think it looks like being one of the races of the season,’ said the jockey.

‘With the likes of Frankel, Dream Ahead and Saamidd taking each other on it looks exceptional - we'll see on Saturday who is the best.

‘He (Dream Ahead) was very impressive at Newmarket and I said afterwards he was an unbelievable horse, I've never sat on a horse that can do what he does.

‘But what Frankel did at Ascot was very impressive and he hasn't done anything wrong - to the eye he is very impressive.

‘We'll see on Saturday, everybody will find out.

‘Hopefully they all get there in good shape and everyone can have a good crack at it,’ Buick told At The Races.
