Johnny Murtagh was in good form at Dundalk on Friday evening and took the feature race on Warning Flag in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Star Appeal Stakes.
The Listed race had attracted a competitive 10-runner field, including two from Aidan O'Brien's yard, but the fact Murtagh was riding Warning Flag for David Wachman had not gone unnoticed by punters and he was sent off the 2-1 favourite.
He just about made all the running in beating O'Brien's Park Avenue by a length and a quarter.
Murtagh did not have to work too hard to guide Tradition to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes earlier.
After finishing third twice previously, the son of Footstepsinthesand showed the benefit of previous experience to justify 9-4 favouritism by a cosy length to give Wachman a double.
Dundalk would not be Dundalk without a Ger Lyons winner and he took the opening contest courtesy of Final Recovery (11-4 co-favourite) in the Buy A Racing Post Bonus Yearling Bonus Candidate Nursery, obviously benefiting from the application of first-time blinkers.
Keagan Latham was content to sit just behind leader Lacy Brief before kicking on in the straight and the son of Refuse To Bend beat top-weight Free Art by two lengths.
Edward Lynam's Tweedy (4-1), a half-sister to stablemate Duff, ran out an easy winner of the www.dundalkstadium.com Race.
Wayne Lordan took the bull by the horns and never looked like getting caught, coming home two lengths clear of Alsalwa.
Lynam and Lordan doubled up with Denny Crane (5-2 favourite) in the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap.
Middleham trainer Mark Johnston was successful with one of his three runners on the night as Realisation (9-4 favourite) held on grimly in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Package Handicap in the hands of Greg Fairley.
