Four-time Group One winner Vision D'Etat is on course for a tilt at the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket on 16 October.

Eric Libaud's five-year-old enjoyed a fantastic 2009 campaign, winning the Prix Ganay, the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin.

He disappointed in the Dubai World Cup this March, but looked much more like his old self when victorious on his comeback at Deauville in August.

The trainer's wife and part-owner Victoria Libaud, said: ‘The plan is for Vision D'Etat to come over to Newmarket for the Champion Stakes.

‘He is well at the moment and has come on since his victory at Deauville in August.

‘We had considered running him in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe but his distance is 10 furlongs and a mile and a half at Longchamp is a true test for a horse, especially on soft ground.

‘His best form has always been at around 10 furlongs and the main objective was always to go to Newmarket with him.

‘He has won four Group One races at around 10 furlongs, so we hope that he would go to Newmarket with a good chance.

‘We will see how he gets on there, but the aim is for him to then go to Hong Kong to defend his title in the Hong Kong Cup and then he is heading off to stud.’

Prix du Moulin hero Fuisse is also set to cross the Channel for the Newmarket Group One.

Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek saddled Hatoof to win the Champion Stakes back in 1993 and believes her latest contender could not be in better form ahead of his trip.

‘Fuisse is very well and is going to England next week to run in the Champion Stakes,’ said Head-Maarek.

‘He worked over the straight mile at Chantilly on Tuesday with two lead horses and he was very impressive.

‘I would like good ground for him as he's got a huge action and I hope the mile and a quarter will be OK.’
