Promising conditional Hadden Frost has been appointed stable jockey for Henrietta Knight.
Knight, trainer of triple Gold Cup winner Best Mate and the brilliant Edredon Bleu, has not employed a number one rider for her West Lockinge Farm yard since the retirement of Jim Culloty in 2005.
Frost is the son of jump jockey Jimmy and has been associated with David Pipe's stable, winning the Pertemps Final on Buena Vista at Cheltenham last season.
His new role will officially start in September but he has already made a fine start.
‘Hadden impressed us when he rode a couple for us last season and he's a talented young jockey,’ said Knight.
‘We have been looking for a stable jockey since Jim - most yards do have one - and it's helpful for the horses.
‘He rode his first winner for us on Job One at Stratford on Tuesday night, but I believe he still has a couple more wins left before he loses his claim and he will still be with David Pipe for the time
being and will still ride out for him.
‘He'll ride all our horses, although if the owners want AP McCoy or one of the top jockeys to ride we are not shutting the door to them, and Hadden knows that.’
Knight expects to have around 50 horses in training when the winter jumps season starts again.
