Willie Mullins has been crowned champion National Hunt trainer, with Ruby Walsh scooping the award for top jockey.

The irrepressible duo were honoured for their achievements on the final day of the jumps season at the Punchestown Festival.

Walsh has won the award seven times - this was his fifth consecutive champion jockeys' title - while Mullins has lifted the trophy for the last two seasons.

JP McManus claimed the leading owners' award, with Willie Mullins' son, Patrick, retaining the title of champion qualified rider.

Alan Cawley won the prize for champion claiming professional.

Brian Kavanagh, Horse Racing Ireland chief executive, said: ‘HRI is delighted to be recognising the achievements of our top owners, trainers and jockeys, who are truly elite international athletes, at the culmination of another great season.’
