Ante-post favourite Rainbow View stepped up her preparations for the stanjames.com 1000 Guineas when working on the Rowley Mile racecourse in Newmarket.

John Gosden's unbeaten filly was given her first outing on the track since scoring in Group One company last September, and covered six and a half furlongs under big-race pilot Jimmy Fortune.

She moved upsides stable companion Decorum coming out of the dip and finished half a length ahead of the fellow three-year-old, who is also owned by American George Strawbridge.

The daughter of Dynaformer was on her toes in the preliminaries and got rather warm, but settled down nicely once into her stride.

Gosden said: 'She is full of herself and that is why we came here - to get some of the gas and fizz out of her.

'That is the first work she has done in company - she has only breezed twice on own her own so far.

'She had a sweat and dried off well, and the good news is she didn't get rid of Jimmy!

'Her main piece of work will be 10 days before the race, and the main idea of coming here was for a dress rehearsal.

'She hasn't seen the racecourse since September and I am really happy with her - she looks good in her coat and had a nice blow.'

Fortune added: 'I was very happy with her and she did what you would expect at this stage. There is plenty of improvement in her and she came to hand pretty quickly last year. You wouldn't want her 110% two weeks before the race.'
