Diamond Harry is to be rerouted to the Blue Square Challow Novices' Hurdle at Newbury on 29 December after Cheltenham was abandoned at the weekend.

Trainer Nick Williams is now targeting the Grade One contest over two miles and five furlongs for the five-year-old, who is unbeaten in four starts.

He was poised to defend his 100% record in the three-mile Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Prestbury Park course on Saturday.

‘He goes for the Challow Hurdle over two miles five at Newbury next. He's OK and the trip should be fine,’ said the Devon-based handler.

‘It was a bit of a pain on Saturday as I was in the car park when the meeting was called off.’

Williams reported that L'Aventure was not a definite runner in the Coral Welsh National, which she won in 2005 when trained by Paul Nicholls.

The nine-year-old mare, runner-up to Kilbeggan Blade at Sandown on her latest start, only has 8st 8lb in the long handicap.

She may not go for the Chepstow marathon on 27 December - even if she makes the cut.

‘She won't go unless the top one (Halcon Genelardais) comes out,’ the trainers added.
