Rock Street shows the way at Clonmel

Rock Street made the most of the opportunity handed to him by the luckless Killenaule Boy to land the Lisronagh (C & G) Beginners Chase in testing conditions at Clonmel.

Robert Tyner's seven-year-old (3-1) turned into the straight alongside the favourite and the pair had the race between them as there was a long gap to the rest.

Killenaule Boy looked to be getting the better of the duel until he hit the last hard and lost all momentum, allowing Rock Street to grab the spoils by four lengths under Philip Enright.

It was a fifth consecutive second-placing for Killenaule Boy and a sixth over fences in all.

The winning trainer and jockey were completing a double after the success of Limerick bumper scorer Square Sphere in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle on her jumps debut.

The five-year-old (11-2) took it up at the second-last and Enright didn't have to push her too hard to hold off Lady Roberta by three and a half lengths.

Leanne finally got her reward for consistency when she scored for the first time over fences in the Kilsheelan Beginners Chase.

Bill Harney's mare, never out of the first four in seven previous attempts, was sent off the 2-1 favourite for the two-and-a-half-mile test and performed the task in straightforward manner.

Always prominent under John Cullen, she closed on leader Fortune Seeker at the second-last and forged clear to win by 10 lengths.

Tilly Ann, who showed very little in seven runs on the Flat, sprung a 20-1 surprise in the Powerstown 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle.

Noel Glynn's filly swept round the outside on the home turn to take it up at the second-last and went clear for a convincing seven-length sucess under Martin Ferris.

The Dashing Doctor (6-1) was sent on out in the country by Mark Bolger and kept going well to beat Mr Aussie by seven lengths in the Ballypatrick Handicap Chase for the Andrew McNamara team.
