Blythe aimed at Diomed repeat

Blythe Knight will bid for back-to-back victories in the Group Three Juddmonte Diomed Stakes at Epsom on Friday.

The eight-year-old has failed to get his head in front since winning this race 12 months ago but bold shows in the Lincoln at Doncaster and a Listed event at York last time have offered trainer John Quinn plenty of encouragement.

He said: 'He's in great nick and I was pleased with his run to finish third at York last time.

'Obviously on that form he has something to find with the winner (Mia's Boy) but he is in great form so we will see.

'The ground looks like it will be softer than it was the last day but that won't bother him as it all seems to come alike to him.'

Quinn is also hoping to be represented on Derby day by juvenile Fivefootnumberone, who is engaged in the Listed Woodcote Stakes.

The Acclamation colt won in a good time at Haydock last month and faces a crucial workout in the morning before Epsom plans are finalised.

Quinn continued: 'He won nicely last time and we will work him in the morning and see. If everything goes well he is likely to take his chance - then we will see how good he is.'
