Mick Kinane could only manage fourth place in the Arima Kinen in Japan on Sunday.

The Irishman's mount Roc De Cambes picked up well in the closing stages but it was not enough to overhaul Nakayama specialist Matsurida Gogh, who was causing a major upset in the event billed as the biggest betting race on earth.

The Sakae Kunieda-trained four-year-old, returned at over 50-1, had not proved good enough in Grade One events at other tracks but was much more at home at the circuit just outside Tokyo.

Matsurida Gogh was positioned just off the pace by jockey Masayoshi Ebina and got the better of a battle with Daiwa Scarlet to score by a length and a quarter.

The runner-up held off her half-brother Daiwa Major for second.
