Horse Racing Ireland announced the annual Irish Horse Racing Awards in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin on Monday.
These awards are designed to honour the human and equine talent which has made racing one of the country’s most popular sports and delivered great success in the international arena.
This is the fifth year of the awards which are voted on by the Irish Racing Media.
The awards were presented by Mr Seamus Brennan, TD, Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism who said: '2007 delivered much racing success for Ireland at home and abroad, enhancing our reputation globally as a centre of excellence for breeding, training and racing thoroughbred horses.
Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland said: 'Our celebration of Ireland’s racing success is rooted in the support which the government gives to racing and it’s a pleasure to have the Minister with us here today.
'Racing is Ireland’s most consistently successful international sport and the racing industry strives to continually deliver significant economic, sporting and social benefits for Ireland.'
The list of Winners & Nominees for the 2007 Awards are as follows:
Horse of the Year – Dylan Thomas (Beef or Salmon, Finsceal Beo, New Approach, Peeping Fawn, Sublimity)
National Hunt – Ruby Walsh (Nina Carberry, Noel Meade, Robert Power, Charlie Swan).
Flat – Jim Bolger (Kevin Manning. Johnny Murtagh, Aidan O’Brien, Pat Smullen).
Outstanding Achievement – Gordon Elliott (Enda Bolger, John Carr, Seamus Heffernan, Tommy Stack).
Point-To-Point – Derek O’Connor (Ian Ferguson, Mark O’Hare, Michael O’Leary)
Contribution to the Industry – Tony Sweeney (Previous winners Galway Race Committee, Con Collins & Kevin Prendergast)
