Haatef is set for a short break after connections decided against giving him an outing at Glorious Goodwood.

Kevin Prendergast's three-year-old disappointed in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket but returned to form with two victories since, most recently in a Listed race over six furlongs.

Haatef could next be set for a step back up to a mile in the Group Three Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown on 19 August. Of his reasons for skipping Goodwood, Prendergast said: 'The owner (Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum) is quite rightly very protective of his horses and his last win came in very heavy ground, which wasn't very long ago.

'He will probably run in the Desmond next as that looks the right race for him.'
