My Way reaps Festival glory again

My Way De Solzen (7-2) turned the tables on Fair Along in no uncertain terms by winning the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy in fantastic style at the Cheltenham Festival.

As expected there was a breakneck pace up front, with Lennon and Gemini Lucy also forcing it. Both Tony McCoy and Ruby Walsh were travelling especially well in behind on their respective mounts Don't Push It and Twist Magic, but both fell independently two out.

The result justifies Alan King's decision to bring his charge back in trip to take on the speedsters and he joins the list of greats to have won at two successive Festivals.

Last year's World Hurdle hero had finished behind Fair Along earlier in the season, but back at the scene of his biggest triumph he won by an impressive five lengths.

Fair Along, the 100-30 favourite, never travelled with his usual fluency and did well to run on past beaten horses to claim second, with Jack The Giant (14-1), who made most of the running, a length further back in third.

King said: 'I was coping quite well until I bumped into Michael Dickinson and he told me I was the biggest prat ever for going for this (rather than the Ryanair Chase), but I'm thrilled for the whole team.

'He's always shown so much speed and he's a class horse.

'That's always been the thing and it's been an agonising month, but we've got away with it today.'
