Shane Kelly faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected fractured hip after a fall at Bath.
The jockey was unseated from Jamie Osborne's Piano Player in the World Bet Exchange - wbx.com Handicap and was immediately taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Doctor Phil Prichard, who dealt with Kelly in the aftermath of the fall, said: 'He's most likely fractured his hip and he'll be out for a little while.
'There were no other injuries and he was in good spirits.'
The incident occurred after second-placed Signal Hill, ridden by 5lb claimer Liam Jones, was adjudged to have drifted right - leaving Kelly and Piano Player short of room.
Osborne's gelding then unseated Kelly two furlongs from home in the one-mile contest.
Jones was subsequently hit with a five-day suspension (August 19-23) for careless riding.
