Final Verse will miss the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot due to a foot injury.

The setback means the colt, who finished sixth in the 2000 Guineas, will be unable to build on his win in a Listed race at Goodwood last month.

"Final Verse has suffered a foot injury and will not be able to run in the St James's Palace Stakes," trainer Sir Michael Stoute said in a statement to PA Sport.

The son of Mark Of Esteem, owned by Saeed Suhail, was a best-priced 6-1 with Ladbrokes for the St James's Palace.
