Pat Eddery trained his first turf winner when Cavort took the opening contest at Goodwood's May meeting.

The brilliant jockey has already experienced success on the all-weather since taking out a trainer's licence at the end of last season but two-year-old Cavort suggested that more wins will soon be coming when taking the Casco EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Emmett Stack brought the 13-2 chance through to take the lead just after the two-furlong pole and although Baltic Belle rallied bravely towards the stands' rail, the winner did enough to hold by a neck.

"She's a tough little filly and she likes a fight," said the winning trainer.

"I hoped she would handle the ground and she liked the six-furlong trip, in fact she should get seven easily enough.
There's quite a few two-year-olds to come out and hopefully some really nice ones among them."
