Three-times Aintree Grand National winning trainer Ginger McCain has splashed out 110,000guineas on the former Paul Nicholls inmate Inca Trail, bringing his number of runners in this year’s renewal to three.
The veteran trainer, who already has 2004 winner Amberleigh House and Peter Marsh Chase victor Ebony Light engaged, added to his string with the purchase at the Doncaster Sales on Wednesday.
"It will be Amberleigh House's last National and I suggested this horse to (his owner) John Halewood," said McCain.
"He goes to Liverpool with a serious chance and can hopefully run in the next two or three Nationals.
"There is a chance he could also go to the Betfred Gold Cup as we know he is decent at Sandown, but let's get Liverpool out of the way first," he told the Racing Post.
