Tom Taaffe believes the track at Sandown could play to Kicking King's strengths in the Stan James King George VI Chase on St. Stephen's Day.
The seven-year-old won the Grade One feature at Kempton last year but with that track undergoing redevelopment, the race has been switched across the Thames.
Taaffe told At The Races: "At Sandown there's a lot of jumping which he loves and is one of his biggest assets and I don't envisage any problems."
Kicking King has been off the track since suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of Kingscliff in the Betfair Chase at Haydock last month.
It later transpired the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner had twisted a shoe in running and he finished sore. However, he is back on song now and Taaffe would not rule out his charge reversing the Haydock form at Sandown.
He added: "He's very good. He worked very well the other day and more importantly he's very happy and well in himself - once he's that way, I'm happy."
"At the time it appeared he had run very flat and I couldn't put my finger on it but five minutes later we were able to see it. I respect all of them but if my own fellow's as well as I think he is, then I'm very happy.
Kicking King is a general 7-4 chance to return to winning ways and land the three-mile race again.
