Mouse Morris reckons his star chaser War Of Attrition can only improve from his clash with Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Kicking King in the Listed Daily Star Chase at Punchestown on Thursday.

The former classy novice was second to Ashley Brook at Aintree before winning the Swordlestown Cup at the Punchestown Festival, and like Kicking King will be having his first start of the autumn.

"He seems fine and is likely to run on Thursday with Conor O'Dwyer on board," Morris told the Racing Post.

"It's early days so he will certainly come on a fair bit for the run, but we'll most likely take our chance.

"We're looking at the Ryanair (formerly Daily Telegraph) Chase at the Cheltenham Festival as a potential long-term target, as his owner is sponsoring that race for the first time next March.
