Durack on the mend after setbacks

Durack eyes end of year return
Durack eyes end of year return

Injured jockey Seamus Durack is hoping to make a return to competitive racing in December.

The former champion amateur rider fractured his right femur - the third time he has broken a leg in four seasons - and dislocated his hip in a fall at Towcester in May.

However, complications in the healing process meant he was forced to undergo a second operation last month.

Durack is keeping his fingers crossed the operation has been a success and has targeted a return to the saddle before the end of the year.

He told the Racing Post: "I've been out of hospital for two weeks and everything seems to be mending. I've come off the painkillers and I'm feeling better.

"I've an appointment to see my surgeon at the end of the month and if he's pleased with my progress I'd hope to be back race-riding sometime in December.
