Seamus Durack is set for a short spell on the sidelines after cracking a bone in his hand at Uttoxeter yesterday. The rider parted company with the ill-fated Famous Grouse four flights from home in the totesport Handicap Hurdle.
Although Durack went on to ride Toulouse-Lautrec to finish second in the John Smith's Midlands Grand National, he was forced to give up his remaining rides.
He said: "I've cracked a bone in the back of my hand. I rode in the next race but then I went to see the doctor and he sent me off for an X-ray which showed the problem."
Durack hopes to be back in action in a week. He added: "The doctor told me just to support the hand for a few days and he said I'll know when it's right myself as I'll be able to use it. It's not too painful and hopefully I will be back in five or six days, it just depends on how it feels - I may even be back sooner."
