Arkle hopeful War Of Attrition is likely to resume his Cheltenham preparation with a run in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Novice Chase at Naas on Saturday.

Mouse Morris's six-year-old, runner up to Brave Inca in last year's Supreme Novices' Hurdle, impressed on his chase debut at Thurles in November but he been sidelined since after suffering a set back.

"He got a slight fracture at Thurles and was on the easy for several weeks afterwards,  the County Tipperary-based handler told the Racing Post.  It was a slight chip in his splint bone but he seems to be well again and has been back working for the last six weeks.

We'll know more after Naas on Saturday but the Arkle is the race I've always had in mind for him, as I've always thought two miles is his ideal trip.
