Navan stages a seven race Flat card on Friday where the first race is due off at 6.00pm.
The most valuable race on the card is the concluding €25,000 Nashville Handicap but has attracted just six runners. Dermot Weld's Battling Mac makes his seasonal reappearance and is sure to be fit.
Battling Mac improved noticably in handicaps last year but competes from 14lbs higher than when last winning. A better bet may prove to be Jim Bolger's Beautifulballerina, who made her seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown 16 days ago . The lightly raced daughter of Nureyev was second to tomorrow's rival Dollars Rock that day and can be expected to improve on
this her second handicap run.
The Median Auction Maiden looks an ideal opportunity for Ger Lyons' Shamoan to get off the mark. The son of Monashee Mountain has finished second on his three outings todate and showed enough in those runs to suggest he will lose his maiden status in a race of this nature .
Others with placed form are Spring of Pearls and Trim Image and are likely to give Shamoan's jockey Pat Cosgrave most to worry about.
On a day when Wexford hosts the other Irish meeting, Visit Wexford may well prove the best bet in the 1m2f handicap at the Co Meath venue. The selection was second in a much better race at The Curragh recently and rates a sound bet to defeat each-way hope Knock Abbey Castle.
