Museum marks Red Rum career

An exhibition to celebrate the achievements of three time Grand National winner Red Rum opened at the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket this week.

The start of the show comes hot on the heels of stablemate Amberleigh House's win in the Aintree contest last weekend and the display features memorabilia relating to Ginger McCain's star.

"Red Rum is immortal," said the museum's curator Alan Grundy.  "He lives on not only through his unmatched record in the Grand National but also through the magnitude of his personality."

Paintings, training records, tack, photographs and other material loaned by McCain will be on display alongside pieces from the collection of Red Rum's greatest fan, Betty Thompson.
