Racing heads north to Downpatrick on Wednesday

Downpatrick hosts a seven race card on Wednesday where the first is due off at 12.45.

The 2m2f beginners' chase looks a decent contest with Noel Meade's Woodys Deep Ocean making his chasing debut. The son of Be My Native competed at the top level over hurdles last season and, with a safe round of jumping, is selected to beat Jolly Moonbeam and Norbrook.

The three mile beginners' chase looks another competitive event. River Quoile is rated 97 and is sure to benefit from his previous chasing efforts although preference is for Sean Treacy's Carneys Cross. Carneys Cross has not raced since February but won from a hurdle's rating of 99 on his most recent start in Limerick. A reproduction of his best form should see him go close.

The concluding bumper looks a tricky contest. Six of the fifteen runners possess decent bumper form while Noel Meade and Jessica Harrington introduce newcomers.

Michael O'Brien's Quarantine showed marked improvement when second on his latest start and may provide a little value here, with three times point to point winner Gauppo Boy selected for the exacta.
