A maximum field of 24 has been declared for the Enter The £1 Million Tote Ten to Follow November Stakes - the feature race on the last day of the turf Flat season at Doncaster tomorrow. The weights for the £40,000 Showcase Handicap have been raised 13lb following the defection of Scott's View, who was to have carried 9st 12lb. The four-year-old, trained by Mark Johnston, has been declared instead for the CIU Serlby Stakes, a Listed race over the same trip of a mile and a half.
The new joint top-weights in the November Handicap on 9st 10lb are the Paul d'Arcy-trained Eastern Breeze and Reg Hollinshead's Royal Cavalier, winner of this mile-and-a-half contest two years ago. All the leading fancies take their chance, including ante-post favourite Wunderwood. Lady Herries' charge staked his claim by beating Royal Cavalier over the course and distance two weeks ago. Other fancied runners include the Paul Cole-trained pair Harcourt and Capitano Corelli, and Flotta from Mick Channon's stable.
Eleven horses failed to make the cut. They are: Astrocharm, Typhoon Tilly, Golano, Fame, Nawow, Batswing, Night Warrior, Trouble Mountain, Golden Boot, Middlethorpe and Shush. Scott's View is among a field of eight for the CIU Serlby Stakes.
Hughie Morrison has declared Alcazar but is worried that the ground might not be suitable for his smart stayer, who was runner-up to Westerner in the Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp last month. "He's a probable runner. If we get there and find the ground's too fast for him that would be my major concern," he said. Likely favourite is Gamut, who will be fancied to give Pat Eddery a winner on his last day in the saddle. The four-year-old, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, was runner-up to Vinnie Roe in the Irish Field St Leger on his latest start at the Curragh in September.
