The Flat season is fast drawing to a close with Gowran Park's eight race Flat card the second last meeting of the current season. The first race is due off at 12.45, with large fields meaning winners will prove hard to pick in many of the handicap races. In the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Aidan O'Brien saddles March, a well bred son of Danehill. The selection ran promisingly on his debut at Naas earlier in the month and should benefit from that experience to win this competitive maiden.
Eddie Lynam's Empirical Power is rated 85 and rates a big danger to March. The Kilkenny Handicap has been divided. The opening division sees the reappearance of Lynam's Errachidia, having been raised 8lbs after her recent success at Cork. That penalty may prove too much of a burden for the King Of Kings filly and preference is for Dermot Weld's Sandaluna.
Sandaluna has not shown a lot in her three maiden runs but is selected to win on the basis that she now competes from a rating of 58 in her first handicap. Noel Meade's Athlumney Lad can win the concluding Goresbridge Handicap. The gelding landed a similar event at Navan earlier this month and confirmed his well being when second at this venue on his latest start.
