Foxchapel King is more than likely to run in the attheraces Gold Cup on Saturday, trainer Mouse Morris said today. The 10-year-old, who will shoulder top weight of 11st 12lb in the £150,000 contest, is also engaged in the Punchestown Heineken Gold Cup on Wednesday.
But Morris said: "He doesn't mind good ground and is more than likely to run at Sandown - it's a big pot. The horse is in great fettle and David Casey will ride."
Bounce Back, winner of last year's race, has been the subject of sustained support over the last 24 hours to repeat his victory of 12 months ago. Martin Pipe has confirmed that Bounce Back is on course to defend his crown on Saturday with Royal Predica and Burlu also set to represent the champion trainer.
Pipe has a number of other runners engaged in the contest, but decisions on their participation have yet to be made. He also revealed that stable jockey Tony McCoy is yet to make a decision on which horse he will partner at Sandown.
