Timbera & Culloty claim Irish Grand National

Timbera recorded a memorable victory in the Powers Gold Label Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse today for trainer Dessie Hughes and British-based jockey Jim Culloty.

Culloty always had Timbera up with the pace as Torduff Boy cut out the running, with Timmy Murphy holding up the 2001 winner Davids Lad in last place.

As the field turned for home for the final time Culloty sent his mount to the front, only to be headed two out by Knock Knock and the Tony McCoy-ridden Winning Dream.

But Timbera would not be denied and rallying strongly, landed the first prize beat 11-1. Knock Knock was second, a head away, at 20-1.
