Back In Front lead an Irish one-two in the opening race of the 2003 Cheltenham Festival, the Gerrard Supreme Novices' Hurdle. The Edward O'Grady-trained six-year-old was always travelling well and drew clear in the closing stages under Norman Williamson to beat the Tom Taaffe-trained Kicking King.
Azertyuiop produced a breathtaking display to win the Irish Independent Arkle Challenge Trophy for Ruby Walsh and Paul Nicholls. Left in front at the third, the 5/4 favourite was never off the bridle and cruised to an 11-length success over Impek.
