Culloty does Italian job

Jim Culloty made a victorious trip to Rome today where he won the local version of the Champion Hurdle on the German-trained Artifax. Artifax defied odds of 24-1 to post an impressive five lengths win over King Flight in the Gran Corsa Siepi di Roma over two miles four and a half furlongs.

Trainer Andreas Wohler also saddled the third, Serrano. Culloty said: "Artifax had run very well in the main prep race, and the sounder surface enabled him turn the tables with King Flight." King Flight had beaten Artifax by three lengths in the Premio Giulio Giannelli Viscardi.
