Jim Culloty has lodged an appeal to the Jockey Club in the hope of being able to partner Best Mate in the King George VI Chase on St Stephen's Day.
He is set to miss the ride on the Gold Cup winner after being stood down on December 26, 27 and 28 by the Doncaster stewards for not riding out Beechwood for third place in the 'Seasons Greetings' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.
The Kerryman has made up his mind to go to Portman Square to appeal after viewing a film of the race several times.
