Stormin' Norman on form at Downpatrick

Norman Williamson took the riding honours at a bright but bitterly cold Downpatrick when completing a 70/1 double aboard Logical Approach and Leapogues Lady.

Logical Approach, successful between the flags and making his debut under rules, was prominent throughout in the 2m2f maiden hurdle staying on well on the uphill run to the line for a 10L verdict over Royal All Star.

The latter was backed from 4/7 to 2/5 but was never travelling well, and could find no extra from the home turn. Williamson got down near his minimum (9st9lb) on Leapogues Lady in the handicap hurdle, and the effort proved worthwhile on the locally trained mare.

Colin McBratney's charge headed Mr Meyer on the run-in to record a 2L victory, and may be aimed at a similar race in Navan on Saturday week.
