The Martin Pipe-trained Cyfor Malta won his second Thomas Pink Gold Cup at Cheltenham this afternoon. Cyfor Malta was successful in this race in 1998 and was providing his trainer with his sixth win in the Grade 3 contest.
Ridden by Barry Geraghty, the nine-year-old stayed on strongly up the hill to beat Poliantas with Wave Rock back in third. Martin Pipe's other runner, the favourite Chicuelo, made a number of mistakes and was eventually pulled up by Tony McCoy.
