Vinnie sparkles in Flemington workout

Vinnie Roe enhanced his reputation with an appearance at Flemington today at the Breakfast with the Stars gallops. Partnered by Dermot Weld's stable jockey Pat Smullen, Vinnie Roe eclipsed his galloping companion, Sale Of Century, coming home his last 600 metres in 35.75 seconds in a 1600m workout.

Master trainer Bart Cummings described it as a "brilliant gallop". Weld's other Cup runner Media Puzzle was also at Flemington but did not work. In the Australian betting market, he has tightened to the third in line behind his double Irish St Leger-winning stablemate, many now thinking he is up to the challenge on the strength of his record-breaking performance at Geelong Cup.

Meanwhile, Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor has arrived in Melbourne to oversee the final preparations of their challengers Pugin, Beekeeper and Hatha Anna as they build up to next Tuesday's race.

"They are in very good condition, they are sound and healthy," bin Suroor said.
