Ballydoyle's spirits were lifted when dual Derby winner High Chaparral showed his class to land the John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf.
The Sadler's Wells colt, who just 20 days ago finished third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, produced a courageous finishing kick under vigourous driving from Kinane to beat the equally fast-finishing With Anticipation by a length and a half.
As The Tin Man cut out the running, Kinane was pushing High Chaparral to maintain fifth place. But as the eight-strong field turned for home the colt responded to his jockey's urgings in positive manner to join issue before grabbing the ascendancy at the furlong pole.
Disappointment of the race was Golan. Sir Michael Stoute's charge was always struggling after missing the break and trailed home in sixth place.
