Downpatrick's seven race card on Wednesday kicks off with an interesting six runner Novice Hurdle and Traditional looks the one on form figures. He was successful over the course last time when beating subsequent winner Kristy's World. However, if the handicapper is to be believed, he will struggle to concede weight to Clearly Best and Hilare Malta. The latter comes out best on ratings, but cannot be fancied on recent form.
The two Apprentice Handicaps on the card are set to be dominated by two stables. Donie Hassett and Pat Flynn provide the main contenders in each race and look to have a stranglehold on the Mace Champion Apprentice Handicap in particular with five runners between them. It would be no surprise if the in-form Flynn yard won both races. The best of his trio in the Mace Handicap should be Catch The Dragon, while Charmante Femme has a favourite's chance in the Dale Farm Handicap.
Borzov can gain compensation for his Listowel mishap with victory in the Mothers Pride Handicap Chase. He was challenging Rigolade when falling at the final fence last time, but should have better luck over these less demanding obstacles.
Three of the runners in the C & C Handicap Hurlde were in action at Roscommon on Monday. Healy's Bar fared best, finishing third, and will be a leading fancy if recovered from his exertions. Cockpit lady stayed on in the straight to finish in mid-field, while Shrug was a big disappointment considering he beat Cara is Fearr on his previous start.
