Jamie Spencer will miss Newmarket's Tote Cambridgeshire after being hit with a lengthy ban by the Jockey Club's disciplinary committee in London today. Spencer has been suspended for 16 days (three of which are deferred) for whip offences.
He will be out from October 4 to 18 on days when Flat racing is scheduled to take place and his first day back in action will be for Champions Day at Newmarket on October 19.
He was referred to Portman Square under the totting-up procedure after being found guilty by the Doncaster stewards of using his whip with excessive force and from above shoulder height when riding Boreas to victory in the GNER Doncaster Cup earlier this month. As the jockey had been suspended for 15 days for misuse-use of the whip within the last 12 months his case was sent to the Jockey Club.
